"Our mission is to raise awareness about Dystonia and Parkinson's, while bringing our "Modern with a POP" art and phone cases to you!"

Jared's Paintings was founded by Jared Shadkin and Hannah Saunders, both young entrepenaurs in April of 2011. After Dystonia hit very close to home for them, they decided to start Jared's PaintingsDystonia is a neuromuscular disease that causes uncontrollable muscle spasms in one or more parts of the body. Dystonia has no cure and affects an estimated 500,000 people in North America alone. Dystonia is in the same family as Parkinson's Disease and Essential Tremor.

50% of the proceeds from this website benefit the Bachmann Strauss Dystonia and Parkinson's Foundation, which is based in NYC. The Bachmann Strauss raises money and funds to eventually find a cure both Dystonia and Parkinson's.

Due to the merger of the Bachmann Strauss and The Michael J. Fox Foundation, as of December 31, 2014, all proceeds from sales will be donated to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease. For more information, please visit the Events Page.

Jared Shadkin

CEO / Artist

Jared Shadkin- I am an aspiring 16 year old artist with a mission of raising awareness and funds towards Dystonia and Parkinson’s. Mid 2010 at the age of 10, I was diagnosed with DYT1 Dystonia and 6 months later underwent Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery to help relieve and substantially ease many of my symptoms/pains. Since, the wheelchair is gone and I am now able to walk, run, write and even ride a bike, while trying to enjoy life to its fullest.

My love for modern art began at the age of 5, as I began painting, and my home slowly filled with my artwork. When my life was blindsided with Dystonia, art became a wonderful outlet for me to express myself during the painful everyday battles I had to endure.

At a very young age, Dystonia forced me to become mentally strong and not take anything for granted ever again. It also made me realize that I want to make a difference in this world and this is my inspiration behind this website.

I think that giving back to Dystonia and Parkinson's is a great thing because it will benefit kids and adults with this horrible disease, which has no cure. I wouldn't want any more people to go through the same pain and agony that I did!

Fun Fact: Jared won a 1st place award at the Festival of the Arts event at the Young at Art Museum.

Hannah Saunders

Executive Director of Marketing

Hannah Saunders- I have known Jared for twelve years. When my best friend was diagnosed with Dystonia, we did not know what it was and what would happen next. As we learned more about Dystonia, we started to notice the startling lack of Dystonia awareness. It inspired us to embark on a journey to spread awareness about Dystonia. Jared's spectacular talent at painting combined with the skills and the support of the JP team raised substantial amounts of money for Dystonia and Parkinson's Disease research. Being a part of this cause is so rewarding. It's amazing that even kids can make a difference in the world that can benefit many people.

Fun Fact: Hannah won an award for her work at Jared's Paintings from the Aventura Marketing Council.
